Sofia studied history and archaeology and did a M.A. in Byzantine archaeology at Aristotle
University, Thessaloniki. She also earned a M.Sc. in international and comparative education
from Stockholm University. Her research interests lie in melkite christianity, settlement
patterns and (re)use of Byzantine monuments in the Levant and Anatolia, 7th to 10th c.
