Balcı has received her Bachelor’s degree in architecture and Master’s degree in history of architecture from Istanbul Technical University. She continues her PhD studies in the Architectural History Department at the same university where she also works as a research assistant. Her research interest covers Byzantine settlements and architecture, Early Byzantine pilgrimage sites, reuse of Byzantine monuments, digital documentation technologies.
